My Best National Novel Writing Month Ever

As of tomorrow, there will be seventeen days left of NaNoWriMo. As you can see above, I’ve passed the daily and have nearly a whopping thirteen thousand words in the bank. I attribute this to my incredible days off in writing land and my muse who is ever leading the battle charge. She’s absolutely wonderful and she keeps granting me new surprises at every turn. So far I haven’t had a single scene I haven’t enjoyed writing. Perhaps that is why I have enjoyed this story so much. In fact, I have been writing roughly ten stories all intertwined and equally important to each other with four main protagonists, three antagonists, and multiple supporting characters. It’s a level of depth I’ve never had in my writing before and is something I am beyond proud of.

I feel like each story I write, the better I am able to plan and envision the future of that story. For this one in particular, the distance I have into the concepts and ideas will turn antagonists into protagonists and vice versa. Everyone is just trying to do the right thing in their eyes, but that’s not always for the greater good.

The best parts are yet to come with epic battle scenes, revenge, the defection of an entire army, the introduction of the desert barbarians, the sacking of the realms to the south, and most importantly my protagonist finally discovering who he is, but at what cost? This is probably the one thing I want to write more than anything, and I cannot wait. The problem is, he has to try and survive to that point first. The best thing about the way the story has been going so far is you couldn’t tell who the main character actually is, which leaves it open for any of the characters to take the lead role. So if I decide my protagonist that I want isn’t what I want… then I can axe him in the face and let the others react.

I just re-introduced a smaller character into his stepped up role as the other characters have now formed a party of four. He is the Grand Inquisitor and it’s been extremely fun writing his Divine Justice. He is battle hardened and one of the few Soulblades left in the world, and he uses his powers for good, but in a not so good way. Let’s just say, he always gets the confession.

Needless to say, I am absolutely happy beyond words with my story thus far as I’ve written it. However who knows? If I went back and read it, perhaps I’d find myself lacking. Only time will tell, and by time I mean December!

Are you ladies and gents still fighting the good fight? How goes the word count? Are you still enjoying it? Don’t feel terrible, don’t be ashamed. Writing is incredible and any writing you do is better than the no writing you may have done yesterday. You are the God of your world, create it so we can see it!

PS – Have fun!

PPS – Seriously though, inspirational post here, really love it! I think I named it the wrong thing…

PPPS – My boss’s boss came by today and had great things to say about me and the work I’ve been doing. It felt really good to get that vindication that all my hard work doesn’t go unnoticed and we got some positive feedback, constructive feedback and some extra wages! Whoo hoo! Winning all over the place right now!

I’m so glad to hear you’re having such an awesome month, and grats on all your victories! 😀 It sounds like you’ve got an awesome story in the works, and awesome characters to go with it. Really, it’s just overall fantastic that you’re having so much fun writing 🙂

I’m still trying valiantly to catch up! Lately I’ve been managing to get 3000 words a day, so if I stay on track with that I should actually catch up today. Fingers crossed! I finally got to the action so now the real fun is beginning.

And speaking of fun, I find it way amusing that Wikipedia has a whole page about it XD

Drop me a line, wait for my reply!
