Poetry: A Slight Deviation

Have you ever just felt like writing some poetry? I enjoy rhythm and simple poems. Symmetry also amuses me.

Unchanging

A world away, is where she is,
Where she is, is beyond my grasp.
Beyond my grasp, the dead must sleep.
Dead must sleep, within the soil.
Within the soil, evil stirs.
Evil stirs, without relief.
Without relief, they will rise.
They will rise, and we will fight.
We will fight, for we must live.
We must live, so life goes on.
Life goes on, and I am here,
I am here, but where is she?
Where she is, Is a world away.

To Write

A dreamer’s dream is simply so lost,
In a sea of misery and despair.
But a doer must do, whatever the cost,
Embracing their destiny with care.

Today was a rubbish day for writing. Working open to close and feeding the dogs in the morning has taken its toll. Wake up at five thirty in the morning, get home at six in the evening… my brain is thinking: eat, shower, sleep. Although between you and I, I frequently sing to myself on my way to work and sometimes those lines stick in my head. Like for example, a few important lines from my frequent car trips:

Say it ain’t so my darling, because- you know- that I am- not the one. You cannot pretend to be- something you’re not a part of.
Yes, my girl, my friend, I know- that you’re in love with me again. And I think that’s the way it will be until the end.

The tune keeps coming back in my head, and I repeat these lines everyday… I don’t know if I can finish a song around it. Hell, perhaps it is already a part of a song that has been stuck in my head for years. I’ve got two days off coming up and I’m hoping I can somehow be not exhausted and write up a storm! Or maybe I will just head out and buy some Red Bull. BAM, nonsensical writing, but faster!

Anyway, a question to those of you out there as it recently came up in a prior comment discussion (with a certain writer, of this particular blog) that a trope and a cliche are nearly the same thing… I’d be interested to hear your opinion on the matter! Let me know in the comments below!

Drop me a line, wait for my reply!
