Hey folks, hopefully, your NaNoWriMo efforts are going very well and you’re managing to stay on track during one of the craziest months no matter where you’re living!
As I come into my latest retail Christmas, I have been quickly realising that I am going to be absolutely buggered by the end of this month. At the moment all pistons are firing on both novel writing and working fronts, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t already feeling the pinch. Even today, while my fiancee worked her kitchen skills baking goods for her work, I managed to fit in a sweet nap.
My naps are becoming a more frequent thing, which is concerning because I’m either that unfit that I need them, not sleeping well enough to require them or… both. Sadly, probably the latter.
Today, however, despite not feeling like it mentally, I managed to push through and hit my daily word target for the day and that brings my total to an ever-lovely 19.3k. To hit the target during these working days is super hard, but to feel it coming easy once I start writing definitely helps!
One number however that I never realised that NaNoWriMo takes notice of is the total lifetime word count. A small number I’d never really noticed before but interestingly enough has grown over the course of 6 NaNoWriMos that I’ve participated in (I missed 2013, damn it). That number just recently cracked the 200k mark. This may not seem like much of a big deal to those people who write heaps, but to someone who is still working full time and those are only the words written during November, that is HUGE!
To all you folks out there, if you read this, please, share with me your total lifetime word count! I’d love to know where we all sit!
Now, I’m going to try and write another 700 words to get to 20k (nice round number for my OCD), wish me luck!
