I’m going to try and post after every writing session and despite when these posts will come out, I will date them appropriately (it’s not the next day until I sleep damn it).
First off, how was everyone’s first day? Great? Good? Rough? I get it.
So I managed to hit a nice 2625 word count for day one, but at the sacrifice of my TV time and some time with my partner and my pups. The things us writers do to try and entertain people, I tell ya!
That being said, I want to get to my month started with a buffer. My plan by Sunday is to have written 10000 words and then I want to smash out as many as I can to get a super sweet buffer going into week two. That means my current daily goal for the next three days is only 2500, which is very achievable… especially once I write tomorrow’s 2500.
So I am currently using a sweet Scrivener template from K.M. Weiland’s blog that I used to plan my novel and now I am currently writing within all of those notes. It’s odd being this organised, but it has given me a clarity Jefferson’s novel may not have (which means a total rewrite may be in order *sobs*) and on top of that, I have learned so much that I feel as though there is a great sense of scene and emotion going through the beginning.
The first line is a death sentence for a character, who is being executed for trying to assassinate the king. Because of his particular abilities, suddenly everyone with those abilities are being targeted. The next 2500 words are setting up what is called the “Inciting Event” aka “The Call to Adventure” and it’s going to be a doozy. I wrote a sweet scene in which the protagonist uses her abilities to see the demon realm. I decided that it was too soon and was more self-serving than story serving, but I think it’ll be more of a shock when I use her ability during the inciting event. When that happens, it will stick her more into the thick of it and begin unravelling the world she has known for so long.
Winning!
Anyway, I’m super tired, my regional manager is visiting tomorrow and I still have to do this thing called work. Wish me luck and hopefully, I won’t need caffeine to write for day two! Although, some emergency energy drinks wouldn’t hurt in the fridge…
How’d you folks go? Are we all off to a great start? Did you forget it was NaNoWriMo?
Let me know! Support me and I’ll do my best to support you!
WE CAN DO IT!!!
